about the writer

the concept of selfishness being used to dismiss or condemn someone who has committed suicide has always confounded me. even in a loved ones despair, its ridicule seems unjustifiable.

it is selfish to live, whether it is to live in happiness or in misery. the one who has committed suicide has established their nobility, not their cowardice. i find it ironic that the very societies that treasure strength in convictions ridicule such individuals that merely act on their convictions in an unconventional matter.

if you ever find yourself talking someone out of suicide, ask yourself why. and then consider that you are the one acting out of selfishness.
