artificial sunburns

twilight epoch,
ecliptic paradigm of civilization.
x no longer marks
the spot.
it is displayed in neons
and flashy light shows.
a constellation of the aerial
perspective, it’s skewed
and sporadic.
it’s epileptic and it catches
on fire; you’re such a hero.
i’m a liar.
retail bidding war exposés
are a good economy’s worst
enemy.
and am i your enemy?
oh, am i
ever so artificially
bright
in the moment.
fifteen second
spotlight
on this city
and i.
the draping,
floodlight,
burning out.
laid prostrate,
indefensible
from artificial sunburns.
